India has seen the largest wave of pet adoptions in recent memory. Popping up across Whatsapp messages are adorable photos of newborn puppies and the dog lovers who have reserved them. You know whom we’re talking about: Pet Parents.
Among other things, pet parents felt that these bundles of pet joy have made them more relaxed, especially during the C-E (Covid-Era), allowing them to focus on something outside of themselves -- whilst being loved back unconditionally by their pet.
In a study by German pharmaceutical giant, Boehringer Ingelheim group, 72% of pet owners said that spending time with their pets decreased their stress and increased their wellbeing, and 39% said that they exercised more with their pet during this time.
Interestingly, 39% of pet owners are now on the lookout for a new pet to keep their current pet company for when they return to work.
And rather amusingly, 44% of female pet owners said that they would choose to quarantine with their pet instead of their partner.
