You can try some simple things to get restful sleep even when it’s warm outside
Does the thought of taking another scorching summer night in a stuffy, overheated room leave you feeling icky? You’re not alone. While we all know how good sleep is for our mental and physical health, getting a good night’s sleep in this changing weather can be a task. But, worry not, there are simple ways you can combat the heat and catch your Zzzs.
First of all, try to keep your room cool. In case you can’t or don’t want to use an air conditioner, you can place a bowl of ice under your bed to help bring the room’s temperature down. You can also place a cold, wet cloth in front of a wind source like a window or a table fan.
Secondly, make sure you wear breathable fabrics. Choose loose-fitting clothing made of light fabrics like linen or cotton. Ensuring that your bedding is made from these can be helpful too.
Lastly, try some breathing exercises. These exercises, in general, can help you clear your mind and relax your body. During the summer, they can also help you stay cool and relaxed. You can try the abdominal breath, alternate nostril breathing, and the 4-7-8 breathing exercise.
So, if you’ve been struggling on a dry, warm night (or even a sultry monsoon one), you know what you can try to get the sleep you need.
