Enter the Blue strikes a perfect balance between two things we love — music and art
It’s not often that you see a book that is an epistle to two things we love — music and art. Actually, jazz and graphic novels, to be precise. Cue: Enter The Blue by Dave Chisholm.
The graphic novel revolves around Jessie Choi, a jazz trumpet player, who, due to her lack of confidence, gives up performing. The book takes us on a journey of artistic courage and expression, and eventually, what jazz music can teach us “about our search for the truest version of ourselves.”
But it is about so much more than that. It is about all of us, in a way – a story of overcoming fears and climbing the mountains only we see.
“Enter the Blue is a lovely, compelling read that tells a moving story and is full of drama and humour. It's also an absolute love-letter to Jazz, and more specifically, to the legendary Blue Note Records label, who has released some of the greatest Jazz music (and therefore, some of the greatest music) ever recorded… You don't have to be a Jazz fan to enjoy this story, but if you are, you'll honestly enjoy Enter the Blue at a whole other level,” Panel Patter, a literary blog, writes.
