A small Chinese village in the Pacific Ocean is now overrun with greenery after villagers abandoned their homes over 3 decades ago.
Nature thrives in the absence of humans!
If you were to visit the Chinese village of Houtouwan on Shengshang island in east China, it would be hard for you to believe that it was, a few decades ago, a thriving fishing village, home to several families. Nestled in the hills, what you will be able to see in this abandoned village, today, are ruins that are verdant green. Vegetation has overrun the homes and the settlements to such an extent that you would suppose that this has been the natural order of things here, for centuries.
To get an idea, you may want to take a look at these beautiful photos which vividly capture the village in all its green glory. Or, if you want to take a trip to this popular tourist destination only a short distance from Shanghai, plan it during the summer when the vegetation is at its lushest.
