Netflix Houses is yet another move by the streaming giant to stay relevant in this day and age

When was the last time you watched something on Netflix? The streaming site has become an irreplaceable part of our lives (at least for the time being). From our daily source of entertainment to providing us with conversation starters, it has turned into a way of living. And, as a reflection of our evolving lifestyle as well as a way to integrate into it, Netflix will be introducing its first physical venues known as Netflix Houses!

What’s a Netflix House?

It is almost like a modernised, experience-first theatre, where you can “play, shop, and eat”. For instance, fans of a certain show, say Squid Game, can take an obstacle course. The venues will also feature a mix of retail and dining experiences. The streaming site has been curating pop-up fan experiences for quite some time – the most popular one being The Queen’s Ball: A Bridgerton Experience, which was introduced in 20 cities across the world.

But wasn’t it going into losses?

If there is one thing that Netflix knows well, it is predicting trends and being able to gauge the needs of its audience. The company went from being a humble DVD rental company to an international streaming giant. Yes, there have been speculations about Netflix’s downfall after it lost nearly 1 mln subscribers in the first six months of 2022, but since the recent password crackdown, it has also added nearly 6 mln customers, turning the fate of the company around.

Netflix is here to stay

And Netflix Houses is yet another way of stating that. The company hasn’t ever shied away from making controversial decisions with unpredictable twists and turns to find a balance between being relevant and profitable, and being able to retain the title of the leading streaming site. With Netflix Houses and its plans of making augmented reality a part of the company’s future products, it is making it clear that this household brand is not going anywhere.
